Mike Ryan is one of two new participants in the Tessellate programme, an artist development and mentorship initiative of Corcadorca Theatre Company, Cork Midsummer Festival and The Everyman supported by the Arts Council. He will spend this week examining two different pieces. “Clowns On Fire” is a theatrical event which delves into the topic of dating and relationships in the modern digital age. It was produced last year with a cast of four. Mike wants to rework the piece, with Pat Kiernan as dramaturg, into an effective one-man show.
The second, as yet untitled piece, is a new work exploring ideas of toxic masculinity, hero worship and Eric Cantona’s controversial 1995 kick to the chest of a Crystal Palace supporter.
Mike’s public sharing will take place on Culture Night, Friday at 6pm.
