Playing for your Audience

Feedback from Participants

This was one of the best training workshops I have seen in Ireland to date. It is suitable for all actors but particularly for those who wish to work for young audiences. There was a truth and simplicity in the way Louis lead us to a maximum trust of ourselves and of each other.  Children who watch theatre still have honesty and belief on their side. They recognise our perception of ourselves as actors from the moment we set foot on stage. This workshop helps us to let our belief in ourselves fly while keeping our ego out of the equation.  I have worked abroad in commedia dell’arte and this reminded me of that training also. Would love to see more of this type of training available.

The workshop was great, the signs he put up about being ‘be bold’ and ‘eyes wide open’ ‘be boring’ were really different as I had never come across something like that which was fresh, new and interesting. Louis was really warm and instructive but in a funny and intelligent manner.  The length of the workshop was perfect as well as 3 hours was just the right amount as people can tend to get tired and restless after more than 3 so all in all A+ for Louis Lovett’s workshop. He’s my homie!

I have to say that I loved the workshop. Louis was wonderful and created a sense of fun and play, which is what acting is about. I laughed and learned all the way through and am looking forward to being able to do more workshops with him.

The workshop with Louis was excellent! For me, one of the most important parts of any production is the teamwork, if you’re not working as a team, you can’t trust on stage. Louis focused on this and stressed the importance of leaving your ego at the door and looking out for each other. It was a breath of fresh air!

The workshop was only 3 hours, but I thought the time was used well on simple exercises, and developing a great atmosphere and working relationship between the group. There were a lot of thought provoking points made and I walked away with a huge amount of ideas and food for thought.

Louis teaching style was fun, very precise and too the point, and extremely energizing. I loved it!
